I got an e-mail from SImple Plan's manager and he's looking into an interview for us

Simple Plan
This doesn't seem like the way they would treat each other...
  Interview done by Canoe.ca

The group's songs deal with a wide range of troublesome issues, including leaving home on "I Won't Be There" (which Jeff says is based on his real life situation) to plain old loneliness and despair on "I'm Just A Kid."

"I think I've got a lot of friends/ but I don't hear from them/what's another night all alone," go the latter song's lyrics.

When the group sifts through their email they know they've made a connection with their songs. Recently, Chuck received a message from a girl who knew exactly what "I'm Just A Kid" is all about. Chuck says she wrote about her problems with school, friends and parents and how Simple Plan's music helped her out.

"'I really feel like I can relate so much to your song Just A Kid, I know I'm not alone anymore'" says Chuck, reciting the email.

The group thinks that teen taste in music is gradually shifting from synthesized pop beats and belly tops to something darker and more organic, because listeners need some substance to their sound.

"I think people are kind of sick of what is fake and fabricated and they just wanna hear people who have just honest and real feelings and they wanna hear music that makes them feel something and I think rock and alternative music has always been more honest and true and real than pop music," explains Chuck. "You can only sing so much about the sun, and beautiful days and girls. I think sometimes when you touch subjects that are a big darker it rings ... more honestly."

It was about a year and a half ago that Simple Plan found the line-up that rang true. The seeds of Simple Plan started years ago though, when Chuck and Pierre played together in the punk act Reset. They were 13 at the time. In 1997, Chuck and Jeff teamed up with Sebastien and lured Pierre into the mix. David was the finishing touch (after the others say they harassed him into joining), and they collectively knew they had the right combination after living together.

"(We) lived together for about five months and we didn't kill each other after that," says Jeff, "so if we were still alive after that...it was a good sign."

"I'm really proud to be part of this band...when I heard the whole CD...," smiles David, who agrees the music was a better indication of how their partnership would work, compared to their living arrangements.

Sebastien seems to be running low on teen angst and sounds as happy as his bandmates about Simple Plan's current situation.

"I love my friends and my band," he says, laughing a bit at himself.

The band is currently touring (catch up with them on www.simpleplan.com), something they hope to be doing for a long time.

"We want to tour all the time," says Pierre. "We just want to do this until we hopefully make the next record."

Simple Plan Chat
Invasion Crew World

Q: How did you manage to get such big acts like Joel Madden and Mark Hoppus on your record?

A: We took them out, got them really drunk and made them sign a paper. Saying they had to sing on our record. trust us, they regret doing it now. Lol. No honestly, they are just good friends of ours and it is truly a honour to have them on the album. We met the GC boys at a MXPX concert 2 years ago and we hit it big right away. We were blown away by the performance, they were so real.

Q: Did you guys play many shows before you were big?

A: We don't really think we're big or whatever. We're just a young band starting out. We played a bunch of all ages shows with local band in Quebec. We couldn't really be on long tours because we had to finish our record, but now we're finally on the road and it's so rad. We love playing shows every night, making new friends and hanging out with people at the shows. This is the reason we wanted to be in a band. This is what it's all about!

Q: Do you have any plans on touring the us? possibly with Good Charlotte?

A: Totally. We want to be on tour forever and hit every city in North America. Were on tour with Sugar Ray right now, its lot sof fun. Pretty sure we'll jump on a few more dates with them so check out our Tour section on the website to get all the details. We would LOVE to tour with GC. That would be amazing! It would be so rad to see them play every night. We're praying for this to happen!!

Q: Where can you get some merch other then shows?

A: We are creating a site, but its not up yet.

Q: Whats your favorite song on the album?

A: Pierre: One Day
David: the Worst Day Ever
Seb: Addicted
Chuck: I'm Just A kid

Q: Why wasn't "My Christmas List" on the Album?

A: "My Xmas List" wasn't on the record because it'ss a Christmas song- it would be a little weird hearing a Christmas song in July! :)

Q: How did you come up with the name Simple Plan and what does it mean?

A: We chose it because we had a SIMPLE PLAN to be in a band.

Q: What's the significance behind Pierre's arm band?

A: I started wearing it when I was playing bass in a band and now its stuck there.

Q: What is your favorite cartoon character?

A: Seb is the biggest cartoon fan in the band.
Seb= Homer Simpson
Pierre- Wolverine
David- Superman
Chuck- Batman

Wish we had Cartoon network at home..... Seb LOVES Family Guy

Q: If you could tour with any band who would it be and why? (MY QUESTION!!!)

A: Wow, thats a tough one! the Beatles, maybe. Or Destiny's Child or Attomic Kitten cuz they're hot! Or maybe Blink, Green Day and Jimmy Eat World. Wink Wink

Q: How do you guys write your lyrics, what inspires you?

A: We just try to write the most honest and real lyrics possible, about our lives, what we went through growing up and what we still go through today. For some reason, we tend to write sad events that happened in our lives, it just felles more important to talk about how hard life is sometimes that just to talk about the weather. Songs like One Day, Perfect, kid and You don't Need Anything are all about how frustrating life can be, how hard it is to fit in and how parents and teachers rarely try to understand who you are and how you fell inside.

Q: What advice do you have about getting in the music industry?

A: practice al the time- never give up - follow your dreams... don't let anyone get you done just follow what you love. Oh yeah - and be nice to kids!

Q: What is the brand of your guitars?

A: Seb- ESB
Dave- Fender precision basses
Jeff- Guild guitars

Q: If you had 24 hours to live, what would you do and where would you go?

A: hmmmm..... We would all try to get laid on the beaches in hawaii

Q: How did you guys form the band? Were you all friends?

A: Every body in the band has been friends for more then 10-11 tyears. We went to the same High School, except for David who went to a small town 9 hours away form the rest of us. Pierre abd Chuck have been together for 10 years and Jeff often came out to jam with them in the days. Seb and Chuck live 2 minutes from each other so it was really natural for them to be in a band together. We started as a 4 piece band. Pierre used to sing and play bass, Eventually we met David who had replaced in Reset, and we knew right away he had to play with us. So we begged him to join the band adn he said yes. The official Simple Plan line-up was in place. A week after David join we were out playing.

Q: I want to know who is single and who isn't.

A: Pierre: It's for me to know and you to find out.
Chuck: Single and ready to mingle
Seb: Single and Lonely
Jeff: Single
David: I have a girlfriend

Q: What are your plans for Warped Tour?

A: We are def. going to do some dates on warped tour. We will keep you posted on the website as soon as we know anything we'll keep you posted! we are stoked and it's an honor for us to be on it!

Q: Most of you guys were originally in Reset... why'd you all decide to make a new band? Do you cover any of those songs?

A: We all took the decision to leave Reset because we all wanted to try something new and different. We just had to follow our hearts and do what we really wanted to do musically. We are a lot happier playing in Simple Plan. But wer're also all extremly proud of what we did with Reset. We put out 2 records, toured Canada a bunch of times with bands like MXPX, Ten Foot Pole, Good Riddance and the Vandals amongst others. And we met some really incredible people on the road.

Q: How did you learn to play your instruments?

A: Most of us learned their instruments playing in bands and writing songs. Nobody in the band really has a formal musical education. We all took music class in high-School (we were playing trumpet, saxophone, clarinet) thats about it. Jeff is the exception. he actually went to study classical guitar. Thats' why he's alot better than us.

Q: When are you comming to Montreal?

A: We are coming home (to montrl.) after the sugar ray tour. we had a great time playing Jam Des Neiges. Can't wait to see you guys.

Q: if you could be a crayon, what colour would you be and why?

A: Chuck: probably pink, cuz a lot of girls would want to use me.
Seb: Indigo cuz when your looking for a black crayon you pick this one, you start writting and its blue! BOOYA!!
Pierre: Brown, cuz its my fave color.
Jeff: I would be the whole box cause one is never good enough for me.
David: Red cuz it can be dangerous or romantic, depending in the siuation

Interview done by MTV 2002
When you're a teenager and you're feeling lonely and left out, it's good to have a band around like Simple Plan, who have already survived adolescent alienation and funneled memories of their frustrations into infectious pop-punk.

"Maybe when the night is dead I'll crawl into my bed, staring at these four walls again/ I'll try to think about the last time I had a good time," Pierre Bouvier sings on the band's hook-filled single "I'm Just a Kid," which is starting to heat up at radio and should continue to sizzle while the band is on tour this spring, first with Sugar Ray and then on the Vans Warped Tour.

"[Drummer] Chuck [Comeau] and I wrote the song," Bouvier said recently from his home in Montreal. "It's just about how we felt when we were in high school, and how when you're having problems you just feel like it's the end of the world even though you always realize later that those problems weren't as important as you thought."

"I'm Just a Kid" will be the lead song for the upcoming film "The New Guy," which hits theaters May 10 and stars DJ Qualls ("Road Trip") and Eliza Dushku ("Bring It On"). Simple Plan's debut album, No Pads, No Helmets ... Just Balls, is due March 26. The title demonstrates that the bandmembers may have been traumatized by their youths, but they've retained their sense of humor. The same can be said for the video, which was directed by Smith N' Borin (Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Uncle Kracker) and co-stars Qualls and Dushku.

"In the video, Eliza and DJ are going out together because in the movie they hook up," explained Bouvier. "So we're all trying to steal [Eliza], and every time we try to impress her, we all fail and hurt ourselves. [Bassist] David [Desrosiers] breaks his back doing a skateboard stunt, Chuck gets electrocuted and smashes his fingers under the hood of a car, [guitarist] Jeff [Stinco] tries to beat up some big wrestler and gets body-slammed, [guitarist] Sebastian [Lefebvre] gets run over by a bus, and I'm screwing around in front of a security camera and I get hit by a door. In the end, DJ gets the girl and we all get shafted."

Simple Plan formed two and a half years ago in Montreal, drawing on influences ranging from Green Day, Blink-182, the Clash and the Ramones to vintage pop artists like the Beatles, Elvis Costello and the Beach Boys, which may explain the band's knack for blending melody and aggression. Initially, Bouvier played bass and sang, but eventually he decided he wanted to be free to roam the stage, so the band recruited Desrosiers, who also sings backup vocals.

Since their inception, Simple Plan have toured with Sum 41, Blink-182, New Found Glory and Good Charlotte. "We totally love playing live," said Bouvier, who explained that the band's name comes from the film of the same title. "We think doing what we do is just a simple plan to have a good time and meet a bunch of people and play great shows."

He paused and concluded, "I know that in the movie the simple plan didn't turn out so simple. Hopefully things will work out better for us."

Pierre- he's just....a nice guy (puts 3 fingers up) a-nice-guy

What about Chuck...he's not here so you can say bad things about him

(Chuck comes in)
oh, yeah he is actually

Chuck- describe what?
Jeff&Pierre- in three words
Pierre- how would we describe you
Seb- high maintinence guy
Pierre- high maintinence guy
Chuck- ok....ugly, stupid, and...
Pierre- you're not suppose to describe yourself
Chuck- sweet
Pierre- that's self confidence right there for you

How is your album coming along?

David- bad
Pierre- it's actualy finished, we're gonna mix it, we're starting to mix it now
Do you know when it will come out?

Pierre- It should be....
Chuck- March
David- April
Pierre- yeah March, probably March

Do you have a name for it?

Pierre&Chuck- not yet
Pierre- but we're working hard on it, as soon as we get everybody ready

Do you have plans for a video?

Pierre- we're probably going to have a video, there's nothing thats officially yet, but there's probably going to be a video, but we don't know whats on it, or anything in it

Any ideas of what you're gonna do?

Seb- we've been working on this record so much that we don't have time to think about anything yet but....
Pierre- you've been so close to it, you don't really know what's on it
Chuck- hopefully it's gonna look good
(Pierre cuts him off) P- it's gonna be a good song and it's gonna look good
David- we thought about being in the video...like us (laughs)
Pierre- yeah, like us, us in it

Jeff- the last one
(all laugh)
Pierre- mine would probably be Anything
Jeff- Anything for me too
Seb- Anything
Chuck- I like Addicted
David- mine is probably Worst Day Ever

Why do you guys choose to write in English and not French?

Pierre- Because we hate French music
Seb- We've been listening to English music anyways
Pierre- I never listen to French music, and I don't think it sounds good with this kinda song
Chuck- We've just been raised on punk rock from California and that stuff
Pierre- but we listen to it
Chuck- that's what we like right now

I know a couple of you used to be in Reset...

Pierre- yeah, us three (points to David and Chuck)

...you guys had a lot heavier sound than Simple Plan, why did you decide to change from the heavy sound we heard in Reset, to what we hear in Simple Plan?

Pierre- I don't think it's a lot heavier, I just think it's a lot faster.
Chuck- I got tired
Pierre- yeah, Chuck got tired and we had to slow it down a little bit. I think we've just evolved from there means, it's just when you play music, Reset was out for a long time and I was playing in that band for like five years, and if you play the same style of music, eventually you kinda not re-envent yourself, but you wanna do something a little bit different because you can only write....you know....it will just become the same thing over and over again, you know what I mean, so we kinda evolved to that, we don't know where we will be in ten years.
Chuck- it's just where we are at in our heads right now, it's the kinda music we like
Pierre- there's no specific reason
Chuck- all of us just wanna play the music we love, right now this is the music that we like, maybe like...
David- maybe in ten years we will reset and go back to school (laughs)

Right now, who is your biggest inspirations?

Pierre- right now, I don'r really have a biggest inspiration for myself I probably just kinda take a little bit of everything
Jeff- we just listen to alot of different music..
Pierre- does anyone have one inspiration?
Jeff- one single one...not really
Pierre- it's all about just listening to everything we can find and...
David- Madonna (laughs)
Pierre- ...and taking the good things
Chuck- I got the o-town single

Whats the most humiliating thing that has ever happened to you?

Pierre- humiliating?...
David- spending every night with Jeff (all laugh)...I actually meant it
Pierre- humilliating, I don't know, first time I met my parents
Chuck- one time I was in class, it was my,..I was in fourth grade and I asked the teacher to go to the bathroom and she wouldn't let me because it was an exam, so I kept on writing the exam, I asked her, four, five, six times, she would always say no, and then...you know...
Pierre- he peed his pants
Chuck- I peed my pants in class....it's real, I swear to God

Do you guys drink alot?

Pierre- do we drink alot of alcohol?

Yeah

Pierre- No
Seb- we drink water
Pierre- we kinda get..., Chuck doesn't drink at all, Seb..not really, and we do once every three, four months, when we do we kinda have fun but we don't really
Jeff- we don't drink often
Pierre- yeah, we don't drink alot

What's the craziest thing that you did while you were drunk?

Pierre- when we were drunk...
Jeff- don't remember (laughs)
Pierre- yeah, don't remember

What's the craziest thing you've done while you were sober?

Jeff- being in this band I guess is pretty crazy
Pierre- I don't know, what's the craziest thing i've ever done?
David- craziest thing....drive all the way to California, that was pretty long

From Montreal?

David- yeah...no actually from *some french place in Montreal, we couldn't make it out*
Pierre- we do lots of crazy things......I once picked my nose (everyone laughs)
Seb- you went sky diving didn't you?
Pierre- oh yeah, I went sky diving, it was pretty crazy
Seb- there you go

Where did you go sky diving?

Pierre- a place called...*didn't say the whole word because he knew we wouldn't know it (in french)*
David- Pretty Leaf
Pierre- Pretty Leaf

What's on your Christmas list this year?

Seb- food

Pierre- I think the second verse would sum it up (all laugh)
Chuck- lots of things, I don't know, something for a band...like just...
Pierre- yeah, probably wish to have...
Chuck- hopefully to have a good tour
Jeff- yeah that would be great
Pierre- yeah
Chuck- just go wild and be on the road for a whole year and meet lotz of people and play many shows
Pierre- a good video

Are you planning on going on a tour?

All- yeah we're planning on touring
When?

Pierre- the whole year
Chuck- we told everybody that we're gonna tour and we don't wanna come back home, we don't wanna have any days off, we just wanna work
Pierre- all of our friends don't like us anymore
Jeff- friends?
Seb- because we don't see them anymore
Pierre- we're just not gonna go back home, hopefully keep booking shows

Seb- fudgeo cookies
Pierre- oh no, no I have another one.....WAVE (all laugh) wave is my guilty pleasure
Jeff- thats a good one
Chuck- Destiny's Child, yeah Beyonce

Do you ever get writers block?

Pierre- yeah, well we do get writers block sometimes, but what you do is you don't stop, nothing comes out, but you just keep on writing anyways and maybe you'll write a crappy song or two, and hopefully the next one will be better, you just....if you stop...I think the problem with writers block is when you say to yourself "i've got writers block" and "I can't write" thats when it becomes a problem
Chuck- yeah, with this record, we just kept on having writers block and then we would write other songs to get kinda over it, and that made the record
David- so it's All Filler No Killer (laughs)
Pierre- writers block is all in your mind, you just keep on trying and eventually something will happen

When you write, do you write guitar first, or words first etc...?

Pierre- we wrote most of it probably all at the same time, not all
Seb- melodies right
Pierre- not all the guitar, like all the newly parts Jeff usually works on that
Chuck- lots of words before
Pierre- yeah, lots of words before, like we start music lots when we use words before, and stuff like that, but we usually write the core of the song with lots of chord structions, and open melody and some of the lyrics, not all the lyrics...like on acoustic guitar
Chuck- if you honestly want to know how to write a song you should call *not sure if this is right, but something close to this* Maxmart in Sweden, he will tell you, he's been writing most of the record
Jeff- I thought it was the guys from wave writing the record
Chuck- they are helping out

I know recording can be boring, what do you do to keep entertained?

Pierre- we pick fights
Seb- I slept alot
Pierre- sleep alot, play video games, try to get out a little bit

Pierre- oh yeah yeah yeah, what's that game we play?
Seb- which one?
Pierre- the one that was like a metra game
Jeff&Seb- exterminator
Pierre- exterminator thats a really good game
Pat- extermination
Pierre- yeah extermination

Are you guys into skateboarding and snowboarding and stuff like that?

Pierre- yeah, not all of us, but..
Seb- I don't do any of that stuff
Chuck- i'm into watching it, hockey games
Pierre- I skated for most of my life until I was about 17 or 18 then I stopped because my ancles were always breaking but i'm still snowboarding as much as I can and i've been doing that for a long time, and Dave snowboards

Where is your favorite place to snowboard?

Pierre- I havn't been to many places but the best place I have been to is a place called Sunshine Village in Banff

You've been there? It's nice there.

David- it's actually not that nice (laughs) it's not clean

What are your hobbies?

Pierre- Jeff what is your hobby again?
Jeff- I play guitar, thats all I do
Pierre- I would have to say one of my hobbies is probably video games

Pierre- that's romantic? (laughs)....im sure Jeff has a couple stories for that
Jeff- well, I don't know
David- Chateau
Jeff- Chateau...
Chuck- this one time I was comming back from work and my girl left me some roses on the stairs(laughs)....Not funny! I tried...not true, i've never had a girl give me roses
Pierre- I got flowers from a girl one time, that was pretty romantic
Jeff- yeah, it's cool also when a girl brings you on a date and she brings you to places you know, surprises where you don't know where you are going
Pat- strip clubs
Jeff- what?
Pat- strip clubs (everyone laughs)
Jeff- that's pretty romantic...
Pierre- and you're in a room with three girls, thats very romantic (laughs)

What's your dream date?

Pierre&Jeff- dream date...
Pat- three per second
Pierre- I don't know, probably somewhere where it's warm on the beach with a girl that's really cool and really hot
Chuck- that's original, with a girl

What about you Seb?

Seb- I don't know, my dream date, wow, I would like to go to Disney Land with a girl yeah that would be amazing
Pierre- Disney Land (laughs)

Do you guys like amusememt parks?

Seb- I just like Disney
David-we love amusement parks (laughs) there's this one time that....(all laugh)
Jeff- yeah I like amusement parks
Chuck- yeah they're fine
David- yeah I like them
Chuck- you know what, I would like to go out with a girl and fly somewhere and catch my favorite band live.

Teen Hollywood Chat on May 2nd, 2002

We have Seb, Chuck, Jeff, and Pierre here to chat !!

Pierre: Hello everybody, this is Pierre!

BrownieGirl asks: What’s the story behind the name “Simple Plan”?

Pierre: The story behind the name is basically that we see what we do as a simple plan.. Be in a band, live our dream, go on the road and meet a bunch of new friends and do that instead of having a crappy job like we used to!

Simple.cool asks: Allo les gars de Simple Plan( je sais que vous parlez francais), vous etex ou en ce moment?

Pierre: We’re in Lexington, KY which is about 90 miles from Louisville which is where we are playing tomorrow with Sugar Ray and a bunch of other bands!

judy1224 asks: Is the song “Addicted” referring to a particular person?

Pierre: Not really on in particular, I think a lot of girls in our lives, the ones that we’ve had before, probably. But not exactly on in particular.

AnGeLiKa_SPfan4life asks: Hi I’m Angie I love you guys!! My question is… How long does it take for you to write a song?

Pierre: Every song is different. Sometimes it takes five minutes, sometimes it can take a couple of days. It really depends on the song. Sometimes it is short, and sometimes it is long! Usually when it takes a short period of times to write it, it is a really good song and when it takes a long time to write it doesn’t end up being my favourite one.

Sunshine5802 asks: I’d like to know what the guys think about the fact that so many people relate to their music.

Pierre: I think its great. Personally, I think that’s cool. We write about things that happen to us. Being the age that we are, I think that a lot of fans can relate to it and we are in the same situation that they are. We get emails from fans saying that they have been in the same place we have and it is a really great thing.

punkstar asks: Who are your musical influences?

Pierre: There are so many now. I think that growing up in high school I listened to Lag Wagon a lot. I think that for this record we also went back and listened to a little bit of older stuff, Elvis Costello and the Beach Boys and the Beatles-- I love the Beatles. I love Cars. A mix of punk and pop.

nasplasha asks: who came up with the cd name?

Pierre: I can’t remember, we were all just joking around, it was a magical moment. One of us came up with that stupid line.. It was a skateboard saying: don’t be afraid, and just go ahead with it. We are recording what we believe in and sending it out there.

Kalina asks: Do you guys have girl friends????

Pierre: Most of us don’t have girlfriends.. David has a girlfriend, and that’s it!

nasplasha asks: how long have you been playing your instruments?

Chuck: 10 years.. And you still can’t tell : )

David: I started four years ago

Jeff: 13 years

Pierre: I started singing with my first band when I was about thirteen, so about nine years

Seb: 7 years

iwannariot666_ asks: Who do you want to have win the Stanley cup?

Pierre: C’mon, Montreal !!

sickboysgurl55 asks: Are you guys planning an coming out to southern cali anytime soon? My best friend and I can’t wait to se you!!!

(sorry guys I didn’t get the answer to this on cause I got kicked of : ( if n e one knows what simple plan said can u help me out? Email me or post!!)

punkstar asks: What Cd’s are you guys listening to write now?

Simpleplanmay8th asks: Are you excited to be playing on the warped tour this summer?

Chuck: I listen to a lot of “Saves the Day”

Jeff: Right now, what I’m listening to….

Seb: I listen to a lot of Bjork and Green Day

Jeff: I listen to Dashboard Confessional a lot these days…

Jeff: And some U2

Jeff: Pierre listens to a lot of Sugar Ray. We’re on tour with them and every single night we hear them : )

Jeff: David listens to the Papa Roach record a lot

SoSimpleAtTheTime asks: Who is your favorite character on the Simpsons??

Jeff: Mine is definitely Bart

Jeff: Haha, Chuck wants to be Milhouse

Seb: Homer

Jeff: Pierre would be the comic book guy

N2M111 asks: If you guys weren’t in the band what would you be doing with your lives?

Jeff: I’d probably be in school right now. For a long term thing, it’s the only thing I could see myself doing!

Seb: I would be studying right now, hopefully to become a teacher.

Chuck: I’d probably be studying too and still be in law school.. I’d go back to law school.

punk_rules asks: salut les gars! Jvoulais vous demander si vous aviez des show prevus a Montreal apres le warped tour? En passant david tvraiment petard!! Pi bonne fete and avance pour pierre!

Jeff: We have a show on June 5th at the Club Soda with Unwritten Law in Montreal. That’s a scoop right there, its not even on our web site right now. And after Warped Tour there is probably going to be some stuff but there is nothing set right now. The best way to stay informed is to check out our web site, www.simpleplan.com. We really want to go back to Montreal so any excuse will be good to go back!

VApunkBear65 asks: Do you speak French when not in public?

Chuck: Yes, we speak french all the time. But mostly we french kiss ;-)

Chuck: French is our first language. But when we’re in the states, we make an effort to speak english. But in the states, people don’t understand french so we can talk french in front of them and they don’t understand, it is pretty funny..

lovesimpleplan asks: When did you make the group and start playing music?

Chuck: Three or four years ago. The final line-up, a year and a half (when we added David). But the four of us have been together for three of four years.

Windnloudkiki asks: What keeps you motivated to play an amazing show each nite?

Chuck: Basically, when we’re touring, we’re a new band every night we get to play in front of thousand of people who’ve never head of us and we have half an hour to prove that we don’t suck. We do our best every night. We love playing, we love jumping around on stage. This is what we do, that’s why we made a record and are in a band. Its not hard to find any kind of motivation for us.

Chuck: we do it cause we love it. Plus it is embarrassing when you play a bad show.. you walk around after and people look at you funny. : )

iwannariot666_ asks: how did you come up with the album cover?

Chuck: Well, we just wanted to find an excuse to hire models and hang out with them for a whole day of shooting. So we figured why not have a concept where SP crashes a big wedding. That was a concept, we hung out all day in New York in a really shady hotel with models. They didn’t talk to us at all, they left at 5:00 as soon as we were done, they bailed as soon as we were done and gave us fake

Chuck: numbers.. but that was the only reason we wanted to do that!!

PezPrincess asks: The music video is great, what was you favorite part about making it?

Chuck: Favorite part, wow. Well, there were two of three favorite parts. Showing up at 4am to do the video and seeing so many trucks and people already there ready to do it and we were like “whoa, who’s shooting a movie right next to us” but then we realized it was all for us.

Chuck: And the performance scenes, it was a lot of fun, we love playing so that was the best part. And I also liked acting against some known actors. They were really nice to us so it was a lot of fun just to hang out with them. And Eliza Dushku gave me her email address and she wrote back! : )

TropicanaAnna asks: What are you plans after the Warped Tour?

Chuck: Well, there’s nothing that is confirmed just yet. We want to keep on playing shows and touring. Maybe go to Asia. We’ve been hearing that the single is selling very well in Japan. It is kind of weird for us to believe that there are people in Asia that know our band, so we want to travel there. In fact we’ll check out Japan and Thailand and Indonasia. We don’t want any days off we just

Chuck: wan to tour and play shows every night. That isn’t going to change after Warped Tour.

ladyjane62 asks: When does the next album come out?

Chuck: The next album? Wow. We have no plan at all for that. Right now we are just touring and playing shows. We always think about new songs and are writing. We’ll see how it goes. But there will be a next record!

TanyaMaier asks: what inspired you to write the song perfect? did you have a bad relationship with your father?

Chuck: Well, the song perfect means a lot to all of us. It is basically about parents accepting everything about their kids. Our parents have always been very supportive of us and being in a band and touring but at the same time they were really scared about us dropping out of school and being in a band. It is about how hard it is for parents to accept what their kids want to do.

Chuck: That is how it came out, just walking around one night after a stupid fight. We sat down and wrote a song about what it is like when your parents don’t get what you do..

Chuck: From all of the emails we’ve been getting, I know that many of our fans feel the same way. It is amazing how many people wrote in emails telling about how hard it is to go through all this with their parents, we know that we aren’t alone in feeling that way.

SimplePlanGrl17 asks: Does David have lisp? or was he drunk in that video on simpleplan.com-David Screaming?

Chuck: Ahh, no, he wasn’t drunk, He’s just like that, he’s crazy, David will do anything to make people laugh. He will go to the wall and make a joke. Even if he gets hurt and looks like an idiot in front of an airport crowd, he will do anything to get a laugh and that is why it is so cool to hang out with him.

simple_chick asks: Hey guys, i love you seb! Congrats on the recent success! I’m wondering, seeing as how you are becoming more and more popular, you will eventually become a sex symbol, how does that make you feel? are you comfortable with that?

Chuck: Man, are you drunk?? : ) We are definitely not sex symbols, we are just normal guys, way to ugly to be sex symbols. WAY too ugly… : )

frack_80 asks: Why did you write the song “God Must Hate Me”?

Chuck: Sometimes you just feel like every single thing is going wrong. It was a really awful day and it felt like there was a conspiracy. I called my friend and I told him “ Man, I really feel like God must hate me today” and we all went “hey, hold on, that’s a good song title” but it was really because we felt like crap that day!

SweetThang82 asks: If you had to pick a city you’ve been to which one had the coolest fans so far?

Seb: Well, we’d have to say that Toronto and Montreal are the best because the fans know us a little bit more. But the fans in New York are pretty crazy. But so far, definitely for us Toronto and Montreal because we’re from there!!

Good news -- we have so many questions, we’re extending the event by 15 more minutes (at the bands request!! :>)

tapgirl24 asks: What is your favorite part about touring with other bands, and being on the road?

Seb: Definitely playing shows every night, meeting new people every night, being able to talk to everybody after the show, hanging out until there in nobody there. Sugar Ray is being very good to us, talking to all the bands is the best part.

gillysoosegurl asks: How often do you get to see your family/ friends?

Seb: Since we’ve been on the road, I would say once a month, maybe, when we get says off or we go to Montreal to play a show. But hopefully (and not hopefully at the same time), we’ll see them even less cause we’ll be on the road playing shows everywhere.

YouCantChangeMe77: Do you feel that bands like New Found Glory, Rufio, Mxpx(etc..) are threats to the business or do you guys welcome the competition?

Seb: All the bands are so tight together, I love all of the bands that you just mentioned. I think it is a little bit different than other styles of music, like if you are listening to BSB you won’t like N Sync or whatever. But with our kind of music you can like all the bands and still be cool, you know?

gillysoosegurl: who is the wild child of the group?

Seb: The wild child of the group would have to be David. He would just do ANYTHING us make us laugh and you pull a joke. And he is the most unpredictable too.

Simpleplanmay8th asks: What do you do on your off time?

Seb: On my time off when my computer isn’t broken, I try to sit down and read the emails and reply to as many as I can

mandy008 asks: do you ever get annoyed by “crazy” fans doin anything and everything to see ya?

Seb: No, its always fun ‘cause like everybody we meet after the show, they are so cool to us and we feel so fortunate that they take the time to talk to us and see us. Even if somebody is a little crazier than someone else , we are so happy to talk to them.

AnGeLiKa_SPfan4life asks: Did your family always support you in your music?

David: Yeah, oh yeah, a lot. My mom a long time ago, she’s actually the one who bought me my first guitar, I think I was fourteen years old, at christmas. It was actually a funny story.. They were hiding the guitar at my grandma’s and obviously I was like sneaking into everything and I found it and I was like “Oh my god, whoever is going to get this is so lucky” and I started playing the guitar

David: I found out that it was mine, it was an acoustic guitar and that is pretty much how I got started on the guitar. When I wanted to play drums, my mom lent me the money because it is expensive to play drums. They were always supporting me, it is what I always wanted to. My dad comes to a lot of shows, he actually drove 20 hours to see the first date with Sugar Ray. They are really happy!

SexNDaSnowChik86 asks: What was the most crazy/stupid/embarrassing thing you’ve ever done to impress a girl?

David: Oh my gosh, that’s a hard one…

David: You know what, that’s a really hard one.

David: I was pretty young and was in my class and I actually gave her a ring.. you know those really cheap plastic rings you get out of machines? I gave it to her and I kissed her in front of the whole class. I think thats it!

illdoNEthing4simpleplan asks: has fame changed you as a person?

David: Well we’re not famous. I’m actually the same guy. Everybody is like “dude, you’re going to get so big”.. but I’d have to eat A LOT to get big cause I’m a small guy ;-). I can’t wait to go back to my hometown and see my mom. I haven’t changed a thing except for maybe sometimes meeting cool people like the Sugar Ray guys. Other than getting to meet really nice and famous people…

David: Whenever you come on a show, if you meet me you’re going to find out!

SoSimpleAtTheTime asks: where do you guys get your role model clothes?

David: It is our friend Patrick’s company

emmadevaal seys: hey guys… just one question, most of your songs are all about teen angst (I’m just a kid, god must hate me, one day etc)… why is it that all your songs about kids going through a rough time have such happy beats? (hey david and chuck, remember me? Emma)

David: Its pretty much what we all went through, you know. When you’re a kid, everybody goes through that. We still feel like kids even though we are like 20,21,22. We are pretty much like kids. We don’t go to school anymore but our brain kind of stopped as teenagers in a band. Thats what we always do, just play music. Of course we are going to get old but we are never going to grow up.

David: I don’t know, thats what reflects our lives and what everybody went through in this band, you know?

SimplePlanGrl asks: what is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to each of you guys on tour?

David: Jeff fell a couple of times on stage in Toronto. Actually, two nights ago he totally fell down while playing after like a jump. I looked at him and I was like “oh my god”… It was really hilarious. Of course, its not cool when it happens to you . Patrick got in on camera, I’m pretty sure we’re going to put it on the Internet site

David: Pierre forget lyrics That’s funny because he starts singing jibberish, whatever comes out

David: Having Mark (Sugar Ray) on the side of the stage watching the show.. Right now he was watching the whole show! Pretty cool guy.

Amberino asks: what is the craziest thing a fan has done for you guys?

David: You know what, for me it actually happened last night.

David: This girl knew I liked zebras… I’ve got a zebra strap and some zebra boxers.. Animal printed stuff. She bought me board shorts and I was like “oh my god”… I think its crazy.

Sometimes they buy you a little something that costs a buck or two but this was expensive!!

David: There are weird girls. One gave Chuck a hug and started crying.

Chuck: I was like “don’t worry!!”

David: It was like a HMV music store

David: That’s pretty freaky when girls do that. You look at them and you’re like “what happened? Are you going to be alright??”

gillysoosegurl asks: DO YOU HAVE ANY TATTOOS?

David: I don’t, nope! You know what, none of us in this band do! We’re all like….pure. So far, cause we don’t have any money to get some. Jeff wants to get some really soon.. he’s like really into it!

David: You gotta think about it, because you’re going to have it your whole life. To take it off is kind of not really cool!

BrownieGirl asks: If you could tour with any band from any time who would it be?

David: You know what, I would say Green Day but we are going to play some shows with them soon, so … I would say No Doubt !

David: or Weezer

David: And if we could open for a little more aggressive band, I’d say Papa Roach

N3M111 asks: What’s you favorite song from your band?

David: Wow, thats a hard one… I’d say “I’d Do Anything” and “The Worst Day Ever”

N2M111 asks: What’s the downside of being in a band?

David: Its kinf of hard sometimes to be like five guys, always together. Even though we are good friends, it is kind of ironic. Like we said, Simple Plan is a simple plan but it is not as simple as it could be…

David: You know, travelling is really cool. But driving 20 hours is not really cool. Big drives…

stephisneat asks: How do fans in Canada differ from fans in America?

David: The fans in America are a little crazier than the fans in Canada.. so far. Kids are kids, you know, but I don’t know, for some reason in America they one day like a band and want to know EVEYTHING about them. They are a little more intense when they like a band!

David: But Canadian fans are great. We don’t just anybody by where they are from or whatever!

Addicted2SimplePlan asks: How did you decide who was going to do what in the video for I’m Just A Kid?

David: Its like according to our personality. Like Seb really likes to get hit by a bus, so.. : ) I can skateboard. I know in the video I can’t, but I can.

David: Chuck doesn’t really know anything about cars, but he would do anything to help a girl in trouble. And Jeff gets a little crazy, so like the Kung-Fu moves, that’s him totally.

Addicted2SimplePlan asks: What comes first the lyrics or the music?

Chuck: It depends on every song, honestly. Soemtimes we will have all the lyrics for a song then we write the song, sometimes it is the opposite. It is hard to fit words to music because you have to make the words fit and you have to find cool lyrics. Sometimes you have a title and nothing else, every song is different.

SimplePlanSuperFan asks: What’s your favorite movie?

David: Grease! No question about it!

David: Every time I am in the hotel, I start watching VH1 and they had a kind of “Behind the Music” but with movies and it was grease. It was so hilarious but I was like “I can’t watch that, I gotta go to bed.” but I watched the whole thing… I love the soundtrack.

David: I think that it is cool how they sing and dance at the same time, I just like that movie. I love John Travolta and Olivia.. they would make a great couple!

VApunkBear65 asks: Do you find it awesome or weird to have fans follow you from city to city?

David: That’s weird. I think its awesome but awesome weird. I think it is really cool that they are willing to drive to see us for another night, but at the same time you think about it cause it is crazy! But when I was younger, I would totally do it. Watch a band in Montreal and then go to Quebec City. I went to see “No Use for a Name” in Montreal. It was sold out, but between the two nights

David: in Montreal I went to Quebec and saw them three days straight! They are great guys, it will be great because we are playing warped tour so we will get to see them.

SimplEmoSongTX asks: what’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever been asked?

David: “Do you like Bananas?” just like that, out of the blue.. I though it was weird!

disengageme asks: If you had a choice of owning either a penguin farm or an ant farm, which would you choose and, why?

David: Hahahah. Penguin! Cause I think they are so cute! And they are so like.. It looks like they wouldn’t hurt anybody, they look really friendly and I’m a friendly person so I would go for the Penguin!

gummybear1204 asks: If you could date any celebrity who would it be?

David: Drew Berrymore!

Simpleplanmay8th asks: you said its embarrassing to play a bad show. Have you ever played a bad show? I’ve seen you once and your badass live

David: Yeah we’ve played bad shows. Maybe like the crowd thinks that it is always a great show but since we are pretty particular about the show and the singing… we’ve had bad nights, after the show we got back and Pierre and I go “argh…”. Everybody can have a bad night, everybody makes mistakes right?

nita17_sp asks: So who’s the best kisser then??

punkrockrchick asks: Is the dough rolling in?

Chuck: Haha, wow, thats tough. I’ve never tried kissing.. Well…ok, I kissed Pierre for about 0.0005 seconds because we were joking around and we happened to touch lips and that was horrible. But I’m going to say that I’m the best kisser!!! And I invite anyone to try to compare. We’ll organize a big kissing booth and people can just try came and compare.

Chuck: Not at all, we’re just broke, struggling to get enough gas money to get to the next town, unfortunately. We’re real happy that we don’t have to have another job, this is everything we do. We feel extremely lucky. How many bands can say that they can pay their rent and food with band money? So no, we’re not rolling in money yet. But that’s not really the point, the point is just to go out there..

Well, we’re all out for tonight! Thank you to everyone who came out!!

Last words, Chuck?

Chuck: For everybody, all of you guys, I want to thank the guys for hanging out and spending like an hour with us. We were really surprised at how many people showed up. Check out our tour dates, we always hang out in the crowed. If your question didn’t get answered, send us an email and we’ll try to answer it. More than anything, thank you!!!!

Chuck: Thank you to everyone !!

That’s a wrap ! Thank you to CHUCK, DAVID, JEFF, PIERRE, and SEB and to ATLANTIC RECORDS! If you haven’t already done it, check out their web site by clicking on the link on the right of your screen.
